1998 Fishing Journal
Saturday, May 30th
Had such a good time last week I could hardly wait to get back to Steamboat Lake again. Typically the lake only fishes well for about three to four weeks (late May early June) and I have missed this prime period some years. Got up to the lake around 4:00pm. Real windy again with the threat of rain. When I start kicked-out in the float tube I was think that this might be a real short trip. The lake fished just like it did the pervious Saturday afternoon. I fished the same #12 black silver beadhead Woolybugger. I clipped the tailback and was catching fish on average every 7 to 10 cast. By about the 15th fish there were a lot of people from the shore watching. The wind died down and the fishing stayed very strong until the sun set and then it turned totally off.
Once back on shore I must have given away 5 flies. Making more converts out of bait people.
